Avoiding the Flu

This is the time of the year they call the flu season and many people are concerned about getting it.  So my first recommendation is; don’t buy into it. Remember, what you believe, think about and focus on is what you create in your life. And do not get a flu shot unless you are very susceptible to respiratory conditions that can lead to pneumonia. The story about vaccines is another article. I will just say for now, most holistic healthcare practitioners do not recommend them for most people.

The key to avoiding the flu is to have a healthy immune system.

The human immune system is an amazing array of trillions of cells working together to accomplish the goal of identifying, destroying and eliminating, free radicals, bacteria, viruses, toxins, allergens and debris in our bodies. The team of organs, tissues, glands, fluids and cells carry out a non-stop, sophisticated defense strategy 24/7. However, this tireless team’s effectiveness can be compromised by poor diet, lack of exercise and sleep, excessive emotional stress, infections, over use of prescription drugs and medical treatments such as radiation and chemotherapy.

Many Americans suffer from a weakened immune system particularly at the holiday season. Holiday stress, unhealthy eating (mainly too much sugar) and changeable weather conditions are all factors.

Symptoms of a weak immune system are allergies, frequent colds and flu, sinus, ear, throat, skin, urinary tract, vaginal infections, slow healing wounds, chronic fatigue, candidiasis, and of course degenerative diseases such as cancer, aids and premature aging.

How to stimulate your immune system Naturally

·        Get plenty of sleep

·        Take relaxation breaks

·        Do breathing exercises in fresh air daily

·        Enjoy natural sunlight daily

·        Drink 2-3 qts. of filtered water daily

·        Eat live organic foods daily

·        Take whole food supplements

·        Take moderate exercise daily

·        Express your emotions

·        Maintain a positive attitude

·        Focus on your source of spiritual inspiration

·        Stay in the present and enjoy each moment

·        Celebrate your life daily

Two other tips are:

  1. Wash your hands before handling food
  2. Rinse out your sinuses with a saline solution before going to bed

I also recommend consulting with a qualified, healthy, healthcare practitioner who can help you develop a lifetime health and fitness program to suit your needs and goals.
