The Future of Food
This is the title of a very important
film that exposes the serious world wide farm and food production crisis.
The giant conglomerate Monsanto, who we can thank for producing most
of the world’s pesticides and genetically engineered food, is systematically
positioning itself to control all of the world’s food production.
They have been allowed by our government
to patent and to own most of the seed banks in North America. They have
gone ahead with bringing genetically altered foods to the market place
in spite of the majority of FDA scientist’s warnings that they pose
potentially serious health risks. Many scientists world wide are
concerned that there is no way to predict what these modified genes
could ultimately become. And worst yet, at this time, they are not required
to label genetically modified food as such.
Many European and Asian countries do
not want America’s genetically modified foods. It seems they are more
educated than the American public on the dangers, with no benefits,
to genetically altered seeds and foods. There are an increasing number
of American food products boycotts in these countries, which is creating
a world wide economic crisis.
We urge you to educate yourself on
these issues. Go to www.thefutureoffood.com and see if it is playing near you or
buy the DVD. The best way that we the consumers have to vote on
these matters is with our consumer dollars. We can ask our grocers if
they are selling genetically modified foods. We can tell them we don’t
want to buy them. We can write our congress people. We can challenge
the right to patent seeds and living organisms.
We as human being on this beautiful
but increasingly fragile planet, face many new challenges, but none
more important than preserving safe and healthy food production. We
must stand up and make our voices heard before it is too late.
