It’s well known that most people will go for the quick and easy fix. They will take a pill to try and lose weight instead of making healthy food choices and exercising more. We also know how’s that working out, we are a nation of fat people and getting fatter.

It’s commonly thought that omega 3 fatty acids are good for our health and fish oil supplements are big business. Studies have shown omega 3s do improve heart function. A recent study tracked 2000 women ages 65-80 to determine if high levels of omega 3s in their blood from taking fish oil supplements would improve brain and cognitive functions as they aged. Their tests results showed no significant benefits between the control group and those who did not take the supplements. However several previous studies of people who had high levels of omega 3s in their blood from eating fish did improve their brain functions.

This is just another example that proves that if you want to get all the nutrients in the right combinations for optimal health and peak performance, eat whole foods in their natural organic state. There are synergistic co-factors in whole foods that we have yet to discover and perhaps never will, that offer what our bodies really require for living a healthy, energetic, long life. Supplements are just as their name implies, a supplement to a good diet of whole foods.

 

Man made pills of any kind do or may have some benefits but are not substitutes for the real way we are meant to get our nutrients. Whole foods win again.
